07-03-2007 - 750 jobs created in Limburg

In 2006 NV Industriebank LIOF was involved in recruiting and preservation investment projects of nearly 600 million euro and an expected 750 new jobs. This is the result of 16 investment projects of which 8 new investments and 8 expansion investments at existing companies at Limburg.

Most of these new jobs are the result of the announced new facilities of Hennes & Mauritz (call centre in Maastricht, 150 jobs), Artcom (European logistic centre at Venray, 100 jobs) and Polyscope Polymers (chemical production facility at Sittard/Geleen, 30 jobs).

The most important expansion projects were ACCO Brands (European logistic centre at Born, 50 new jobs), Solland Solar Energy (production facility for solar cells at Heerlen, 50 new jobs), Kobelco Welding (production facility for eceltrode wire at Heerlen, 40 new jobs) and Abbott (European logistic centre at Ulestraten, 40 new jobs). Most new investments were made by European countries, followed by the US and the far east (Japan, Singapore and Taiwan).

LIOF visited 50 foreign companies to talk about the strategic future of the company and to discuss any future investments. At the moment LIOF is in discussion with Solland Solar and Scheuten Solar on progressive expansion plans, the expectations for the results of 2007 are high.
