In order of the province Flevoland advice bureau FAPS has investigated the possibilities to produce natural gas at a large scale in the province Flevoland. Biological gasses are created when organic material undergoes fermentation. After being processed it can get the same quality as natural gas, because of this it is called biological natural gas.

The research shows that the production is technical and economic feasible. The raw material can be supplied by agriculture or trash and remains from food. Technical it is possible to deliver a certain amount of gas to a regional gas pipeline, not to the main pipeline. Building the needed fermentation equipment is not possible in the rural area, this because of regislation of the province and cities. One large installation at an industrial zone is more likely to be granted.
