04-04-2007 - Utrecht most successful in getting Veni grants

In total 91 Veni grants are awarded to young researchers of which 18 for the University of Utrecht in combination with the UMC Utrecht.

The Veni grants can only be handed to young researchers who recently obtained their PhD. They are granted a maximum of 208.000 euro yearly for three years to do research and develop their ideas. In total 423 researchers wrote a research proposal, almost a hundred less then last year. The successful candidates were selected because of their striking and original talent for renewing scientific research. Among the 91 granted proposals 41 were from female researchers.

 

Eight of the 18 grants went to young researchers of the UMC, the medical department and the Hubrecht Laboratory. The other grants went to Geo Sciences (4), Chemistry (2), Mathematics (2) Theoretical Physics and Languages.
