05-12-2007 - First Lab Career Event huge success
Friday 23 November the first edition of Lab Career Event took place in Leiden. In total 500 MLO and HLO educated, looking for work, internship or information on follow-up education, gathered for the new jobs and education day for laboratory technicians. At the event they could meet 41 organisations and attend presentations on working and followup educations. After the event 87% of the visitors said that they had more insight in their career opportunities. The visitors rewarded the event an eight.
Employers from different sectors, who are in need of lab technicians, were represented at the career fair: chemistry, pharmacy, biotech, food and hospitals. But also recruitment agencies and suppliers of follow-up education. The visitors were HLO and MLO educated, from students to people with many years of work experience.
Centocor most popular exhibitor
The visitors of Lab Career Event could vote which exhibitor they thought represented themselves the best. At the end of the day the votes were counted and Centocor was the winner.
Organon and Centocor were the two main sponsors of Lab Career Event 2007.
Frank van de Goot main attraction programme
Besides the career fair the visitors could also attend an interesting programme, with main attraction Frank van de Goot, one of the few Dutch forensic pathologists. In his presentation he explained the differences between popular TV shows and the reality of forensic pathology.
In two session rooms presentations were given on working and follow-up education. This gave the visitors the opportunity to get a better insight in their possibilities if they choose to start working or start another education.
Also workshops on job application and networking were given and visitors could participate in CV checks.
