07-12-2007 - Student VU wins Organon “Jong Talentprijs”

This year the prestigious Organon price for young talent “Jong Talentprijs” for biochemistry and biotechnology is won by Marjolein Blaauboer of the Free University of Amsterdam. Marjolein Blaauboer, student biomolecular science, is given this award for her two graduation researches: the first research investigated the effect of load on bone cells and the second research focused on the role of the protein titine in muscle cells.

 

Marjolein got her interest in de adaptive ability of the human body from her previous education Movement sciences and her passion for ice skating. As well in rest as in motion the human body changes. Marjolein wants to know how.

 

According to the jury Marjolein showed that she could put theory into practice in an excellent matter and that she is able to do creative and pioneering research in different research fields.

 

The Organon Jong Talentprijs is presented on 22 November by R. Prins, director of NV Organon. The Koninklijke Hollandsche Maatschappij der Wetenschappen selected the winner.
