A new forensic institute will be founded in Limburg, it will be comparable to the existing institute Nederlands Forensisch Instituut (NFI) which is situated in Rijswijk. The scientific knowledge department of the institute will be located at the University of Maastricht, the laboratory facilities at the industrial area Chemelot at Geleen.

This according to director Ger Wagemans of Chemelot. A second institute is needed because, according to him, the facilities at Rijswijk have an undercapacity. The University of Maastricht is founding the institute together with the company Resolve, owned by DSM. At Chemelot it will be made certain that all forensic investigations will be well certified to endure all juridical tests.

Half 2008 the planning of the new institute will be made known.
