10-01-2008 - Shortage on labour market stays

Human resources managers expect that the employment will keep growing in the Netherlands. Half of them see an increase in job openings that are difficult to fill. This according to a survey conducted in December by mediator Van den Boogaart Human Resources amonst human resources managers. This query is conducted monthly to give a prognosis of the labour market.

Over 45 percent of the respondents thinks that the employment will increase in the next three to six months, in November 48 percent of the managers was of this opinion. Almost all questioned managers do not see a decrease in the number of job openings that are difficult to fill.

Sticking is that almost 60% of these jobs are at BSc or MSc level and that more and more job types show a shortage.

The researchers expect more announcements of companies transferring work to countries who still have qualified and affordable people available.
