The large research campus at the Chemelot area in Geleen will probably be good for much more jobs that originally thought. Director Jos Schneiders of DSM Nederland expects that at least 3,000 people will work at the new campus.
And via indirect employment many more people will find a job through the campus. Schneiders says in an interview in the book “De nieuwe provincie”.
Till now DSM calculated that about 1,500 to 2,000 jobs would be created at the campus. Spokesperson Nelleke Barning of DSM Nederland confirms that the estimated number of jobs has risen to 3,000, because there is many interest of companies to join the initiative.
DSM wants to locate the development factory for the PA4T. This is the latest plastic of DSM that has very special qualities and can be used in various applications like the chip industry. For the first time in ten years a new polymer is developed in the world.
