Avebe wants to get more out of the potato by investing millions in the new affiliate Solanic. In this company a new technique will be developed to extract high performance proteins. By these activities Avebe wants to gain their profit. Last year the company disposed itself from all non-strategic activities and finished their reorganisation. The company looks forward and want to renew their profits on base of innovation.

Innovation already take place at the last year introduced Eliane (high performance potato starch). Now, Solanic is added to the company, that has the order to value the potato. This is done by refining non-starch elements of the potato with high added value and to develop and market these products. The whole proteins from the potato’s can be used for meringue, baby nutrition and cookies.

Solanic is developing high performance proteins with unique qualities for food and medicines. Because the products are non-animal they provide advantages.

Solanic will locate 50 highly educated employees in Gasselternijveen (Drenthe) and will start this fall commercialising the production of these new products.
