22-02-2007 - Personality more important then skills

Job applicants are more often psychological tested by HRM professionals in Europe. Personality tests are being conducted twice as many as tests that focuses on skills. This according to Intermediair. Research of assessment bureau SHL shows that HRM officers are looking for the right person for the job. The starting principle of the HRM officers is that skills are trainable, but someone’s character is not.

Eighty percent of the HM officers who were questioned by the bureau uses assessments and psychometric tests on a regular basis. There was no difference between large and small employers. Both trust evenly in these selection methods. It looks like the results of SHL show an increasingly focus on the understanding of an individual. Psychometric tests seems to have the future.
