| The Swammerdam Institute for Life Sciences carries out research and teaches at the undergraduate and graduate level. The cluster ‘The Living Cell’ focuses on chains of events all the way from modulation of gene expression up to the resulting phenotype in cells. We ‘look into living cells’ and integrate data in a Systems Biology approach. SILS participates in the Netherlands Institute for Systems Biology. The cluster ‘Plants and Health’ is aiming to unravel the molecular mechanisms of resistance against pathogens and insects, and to study the cellular signal transduction pathways controlling stress responses in general. | |
| Bedrijfsactiviteiten The cluster ‘SILS Center for NeuroScience’ studies the brain at the level of the molecule, the cell, the network and the organism. Various electrophysiological techniques help to answer our research questions by allowing us to observe individual nerve cells and groups of nerve cells in specific parts of the brain. The cluster ‘Life Science Technologies’ carries out research in Mass spectrometry, Microscopy and data analysis, and makes a range of state of the art technologies available for SILS researchers and external collaboraters. | |
